About this Track
Brothers of Brass emerge with a brand new style of west coast underground hip-hop with horns in their second Color Red single “Freedom.” Think Soul Rebels meets Lupe Fiasco. The band honed in on their new style of brass-hop music during the pandemic and felt it made sense to write a song that speaks to the era. The hook is inspired by the unfamiliar feeling of not being able to shake somebody’s hand when you first meet them while the band laments in missing going outside without the air of caution and uncertainty surrounding society. No strangers to street music playing everywhere from 16th Street Mall, rallies in Civic Center Park, and shuffling all around the US, the strident sounds of Southern brass music are met with a new layer of conscious, yet in-your-face lyrics giving the band a fresh new sound and further showcasing a truly multi-talented ensemble.
